Our area is home to 3 hospitals that include labor and delivery suites. As a birth network, we strive to have complete and accurate information about the availability of birth options at each facility. If you have information that you would like to add, please contact us!
Southeast Alabama Medical Center - Family Birth Center
The Family Birth Center is inside the Women's Center at SAMC. It features LDRP suites (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum), which means that you never change rooms during the duration of your stay. Each room is equipped with a large Jacuzzi tub and shower. The usual nurse to patient ratio is 1:1. Other amenities include Birth Balls, Squat Bars, Mirrors and 1 mobile Telemetry monitor.
The Women Center also has a Lactation Department, which staffs an IBCLC, (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) as well as CLC's (Certified Lactation Consultant). The Birth Center also features a Special Care Nursery.

Flowers Hospital - Labor & Delivery Department
The Flower's Hospital Labor and Delivery unit includes 10 LDR rooms (labor, delivery, and recovery). The birthing suites include a bathroom and shower. Once you have delivered, you are moved to a Postpartum recovery room. The usual nurse to patient ratio is 1:1 or 1:2 depending on patient level.
The Women's Center also features CLC's (Certified Lactation Consultant) for your breastfeeding needs.

Medical Center Enterprise - Labor and Delivery Unit
The Labor & Delivery unit at Medical Center Enterprise consists of 5 LDR rooms (Labor, Delivery, Recovery), 2 antepartum surveillance rooms and a surgical suite. The usual nurse to patient ratio's are 1:1 or 1:2, depending on patient levels. The Medical Center Enterprise also features CLC's (Certified Lactation Consultant) for your breastfeeding needs.
